Top 5 Things To Do Immediately After Engagement

Happiest New Year to everyone and congratulations to all the newly engaged couples.  I can remember when I first got engaged. Excited, Scared, and couldn’t wait to get to the planning process. But if you’re anything like I was, I really didn’t know where to start. If that’s you, you are in luck. This short blog will go into detail of the 5 steps you need to take after you are newly engaged.  Let’s get to it.

1. Contact Family and Friends

One of the very first things you want to do is to contact your family and close friends. How exciting it is to share the good news with them about your special milestone. My advice is to contact them by physically picking up the phone and call, instead of just making an announcement on social media, which is an awesome idea, but for your very close family and friends, a personal phone call is best.

2. Decide On a Wedding Date Time Frame

As soon as everyone knows your engaged, they will be asking you for a date. Honestly speaking,  you have no idea on exactly when your wedding will take place. Some major things you would have to take into consideration first, is setting a budget and choosing a venue location. So in the meantime, you can give an approximate time frame on when you would like to have your ideal wedding.

3. Set a Budget

Budget, Budget, Budget! Did I say Budget? It is very important that you and your fiancee sit down and discuss, how much you plan on spending for the wedding. This will also included how much each family member is going to contribute as well. Try to be as realistic as possible! If you notice your taste is a bit more than what you can handle at the moment, try to extend the wedding date out. This will give you more time to save and have the wedding you desire. So don’t be afraid of this topic, it will work out for your good.

4. Start Thinking of Venue Locations and Themes

Once you know how much you are willing to spend, you can now start searching for venue location and start thinking of wedding themes. Did you ever imagine getting married at your favorite museum? Or perhaps having a destination wedding? Or maybe even a backyard wedding. Do you like rustic themes? Classic Themes? The color Blue? These are things you can start taking into consideration to prepare you for your actual venue booking. 5. Consider Hiring a Planner or Coordinator

Yes, consider hiring a wedding coordinator or planner. If you are very busy working, taking care of your family, or just don’t know where to start, a wedding planner is a great way to begin. Your planner will help you from point A to Z, they will be there from start to finish. A wedding coordinator is great for those who plan their own. They will come in nearing your wedding date and make sure all your plans are executed on the day of. Both are great options. It’s well worth the investment.
